Check the official record first
Open TSDRUse the serial or registration number, not a link in the message.

Electronic certificates
The USPTO issues electronic trademark registration certificates. The official record and documents in TSDR are the primary verification path; a decorative paper notice or third-party offer is not proof of status.
Warning signs
- A demand for payment that resembles an invoice but is not a required USPTO fee.
- A request for “final owner verification” that cannot be matched to the official record.
- Pressure, unusual payment methods, mismatched domains, or copied government-style graphics.
- Incorrect owner, mark, serial number, address, or filing milestone.
Do not rely on the message alone. Preserve it, avoid opening unexpected attachments, and verify through TSDR or known counsel.
