How to use this checklist
This checklist helps organize facts, files, goals, deadlines, and budget questions. It is not a substitute for counsel, but it can make a consultation more focused.
- Write down known deadlines first.
- Identify the owner and asset.
- Save official records and supporting evidence.
- Separate facts from assumptions.
Checklist items
Add custom notes for the specific trademark, patent, business, or dispute.
Notes
Notes and progress stay in this browser on this device. Do not enter highly sensitive material.
After finishing
Use the completed checklist to decide what is urgent and what can wait for broader planning.
- Preserve documents.
- Avoid missing official deadlines.
- Confirm professional intake terms before sharing confidential details.
Make the meeting decision-ready
Write the single decision you need, the earliest known deadline, the asset and owner, the official identifiers, and a five-line timeline. Attach only the documents necessary to understand that first decision. Prepare questions about conflicts, confidentiality, credentials, staffing, scope, exclusions, government fees, third-party expenses, communication, and later stages. Confirm the intake channel before sending unreleased inventions or privileged material.
